2025: A Milestone Year for De Heus Animal Nutrition Uganda
2025 marked a significant milestone for De Heus Animal Nutrition Uganda with the successful completion of our aqua feed manufacturing plant and the start of local production in Jinja, Njeru. After months of planning, collaboration, and execution, we officially commissioned the plant on 2nd September 2025, reinforcing our long-term commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of aquaculture in East Africa.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our partners. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to our construction journey; from planning and logistics to technical expertise and on-ground execution. Your trust and collaboration played a vital role in turning our vision into reality.
Since commencing operations, we have made steady progress in strengthening local value chains. We are working closely with local farmer groups and communities who supply key raw materials, helping to foster inclusive growth while supporting reliable and sustainable production. By partnering with local suppliers, we aim to create shared value that benefits both farmers and the aquaculture sector at large.
Beyond production, knowledge sharing remains at the core of our mission. Since opening the factory, we have expanded farmer engagement through training sessions and on-the-farm technical support, and we are proud to have launched a mentorship program for fish farmers. Through this initiative, we equip farmers with practical skills and insights to improve productivity, enhance farm management practices, and achieve better harvests.
We are also honored to have been featured in several publications, including a notably Business Focus Magazine where the feature shares insights into the history of De Heus in Africa, our factory construction journey in Uganda, and our vision for the future of aquaculture in East Africa.
As we look ahead, we remain focused on strengthening partnerships across the region and working with even more local suppliers, all while delivering high-quality aqua feed that supports healthy fish growth and sustainable farming. We are excited about the journey ahead in 2026.
