It has over 80 production locations in 20 countries, serves more than 75 countries and sells over 12 million tons of feed per year. In Uganda, De Heus is best known for its brand Koudijs. To extend its business in East Africa, De Heus will start local production of animal feed in Uganda and Kenya. The construction of a new tilapia fish feed plant in Uganda will boost aquaculture, create jobs, improve food security, and shift from import to export.

What is your role?
You are responsible for operating the Production Control System (PCS), with a focus on managing the dumping, grinding, and mixing processes. This role ensures the efficient and accurate production of high-quality feed by monitoring system performance, adjusting process parameters, and coordinating with on-site teams to maintain consistent production standards.
Responsibilities:
- Operate PCS to control production activities including dumping, grinding, and mixing.
- Instruct dumping workers to load specified raw materials based on production requirements.
- Ensure the entire production process is performed according to established SOPs.
- Monitor and coordinate with the control bin operator to maintain appropriate raw material bin levels.
- Prepare and submit daily production reports detailing performance and any issues encountered.
- Execute production planning to meet daily output targets.
- Monitor and ensure that all production lines are functioning efficiently and without interruption.
- Collaborate with production supervisors and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment or process issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the control room and surrounding areas.
- Adhere to and enforce all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.
- Work safely and follow all job-related safety instructions and procedures.
- Take corrective actions when unsafe conditions or behaviours are observed and report them to supervisors.
- Conduct basic maintenance checks on machines, including safety and reliability systems, in accordance with operational regulations.
Qualifications and requirements
- Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
- Must be computer literate and a hands-on understanding of PLC
- Good knowledge in plant mechanical and electrical engineering is an advantage
- Minimum experience 2 years as production operator
- Work Experience in feed production process.
